The Wide, Wide Sea by Anna Wilson
My favourite pillow.
That you can catch up on lost sleep.
Babies have 12-13 sleep cycles a night and when they wake during the night after each sleep cycle in the REM (light) part of sleep, they will always need what they had when they fell asleep at bedtime in order to go back to sleep again.
When a baby baths or has a warm wipe down about 30min before sleep it help to promote natural melatonin production in our babies.
Just leave your baby to cry until he/she gets tired they will eventually pass out.
Keep to age appropriate awake times and always do a consistent bedtime routine. The journey to sleep is extremely important and your night will reflect what happens just before your baby falls asleep.
Stick to awake windows and always remember to relax if things don’t go to plan. Your baby will always pick up if your nervous system is dysregulated. Take a deep breath and know that you are doing your best.
Hushabye Baby from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
I am a mother to my two beautiful boys, Max (4years) and Leo (12 months) both born into my arms at home, and I dream of one day having a baby girl. My husband and I moved from JHB in 2022 a month before Leo was born to live in the small seaside village of Cape St Francis in the Eastern Cape. This has been a dream come true for us, for our kids to be able to grow up in nature by the sea, where they can safely run wild in the Eco Estate we live on. I live my life and raise my children in a very holistic way and believe that good quality sleep is an extremely important part of being able to be the best, most present version of myself as a parent and partner. The benefits I have seen in the development of my own children who sleep 11-12 consolidated hours of sleep every night has been incredible. Happy well rested babies are a joy to be around.
I studied Jewellery Design at Stellenbosch University and ran my own Jewellery Design business for 15 years before I had my babies, after which I chose to stay at home and be the best mama I could be.
